Guy BARDONE French, 1927-2015

OVERVIEW

Guy Bardone was born in 1927 in Sainte-Claude, one of the most beautiful old towns in France. His vocation as a painter was confirmed after admission to the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Arts Decoratifs in Paris. Here he trained under Brianchon, Cavailles and Desnoyer. He was awarded the prestigious Prix Felix Feneon in 1952 which set wider horizons and allowed him entry into the Paris arena.

As an inveterate worldwide traveler, Guy Bardone loved particularly his trip to Folegandos, in Greece. His paintings are a combination of landscapes and still lifes. The clarity of light, calm mood and remoteness of Folegandros resulted in radiantly conceived landscapes. They portrait a perception of pure poetical evocation and capture the legacy of the Impressionists. His still lifes reflect the natural communication between the contemplating eye and the object of contemplation. Guy Bardone's paintings portray a deft hand and a keen sensivity, all expressed on the canvas with a gentle poetic exactness.
