Christina Barolo was born in Bergamo (Italy), grew up in Luxembourg, studied literature and art in Florence and for several years resided in San Francisco. Though largely self-taught, she has for the past several years, studied at the Ecole des Arts Decoratifs of the Louvre. Since 1999, she has lived in Paris with her husband and their two kids.

Painting is for me a rescuing voyage. It cures me, nourishes me, lights me up. It possesses me and disposses me. I am overgrown with its needs at the point of losing consciousness. On waking, I am on the ground, my hands dirty with pigments of my “wanderings”. And who is the creation of whom? Such is the question, one that complements my motto: to be seriously playful without ever taking myself too seriously.
